what an eventful week of exams!

yeah, eventful. i mean really eventful. exams aren't really eventful. you go into the exam hall, you sit, you write, you finish, you leave. well well, not this year though.

1. no seat allocation
i went to great hall to find no seat allocated for me. i'm part of eee. but i wasn't given a slot. no chua in the list. i registered right? or did i not? ... yeah! i did. bastards. the examiners made some mistake which they did not bother apologising for. they did bring me to a different examination area to have my paper. but imagine the panic i had when i was left wondering whether i studied for nothing.

2. no calculators.

no calculators to calculate the square of (b-a)/3.2. yeah we are imperial students, but we're uni students too. we don't know how to divide by 3.2 anymore, let alone square it. so we waited for close to half an hours for the examiners to bring us the promised calculators.

well, didn't plan on bitching but did anyway. paper was for "project management" and many of us have reiterated that the lecturer possessed no project management skills at all. lack of organisation and preparation for the examination. can't believe she forgot to "ident" calculators.

3. appeal
now, emails are flying everywhere, asking for people to sign a petition to appeal for the exam paper to be "moderated" because of a misunderstood word.

"
I know of several people, including myself who were caught out by this and ended up drawing the network the wrong way round, rendering all subsequent answers useless. That's 30 marks lost due to a single word!" -extract from email

i was almost one of the "caught out" ones, but i realised my mistake and corrected it when i checked the paper. it's really a careless mistake. i would be gutted to lose the 30 marks. i sympathise with those who misread, but it's quite clear what the lecturer wanted.

anyway, i can say that since i corrected my answers.

project management bad. asp was alright. moderation should help me get a good grade i hope. econs was bad, considering how much i like the course.

and, i'm too tired and drained to talk in detail about the other exams. and you should be bored by now...

just feel like blogging..

its the weekend again. and it's sunday now, the first day of the week. always thought of it as the last day of the week. exam week is finally here. on thu, i shall have my first paper. and then fri, two more papers. before i know it, almost half of my exams will be over.

i hope i'm prepared. and as we all know, things get tougher year after year. 3rd year papers have to be more difficult than 2nd year's. i'm hoping for some divine intervention as usual, a bit of positive moderation, a bit of luck on questions spotting, a bit of inspiration and motivation in my last weeks of revision.

exams.

the time when the love for our course diminishes.
the time when we decide we never actually liked the course.

but maybe it's the course that doesn't like us. maybe it's because we're so singaporean-trained in thinking that exams are nearly everything and that the only fruit of studying is the results.

exams. i don't really hate them. i'm just afraid of their outcomes. i kinda love exams because they are the few things in life that bring a great sense of freedom and joy when they end. only when you have had an exams, then you'll have a full blown holiday, guilt-free.

suzi's leaving for manila later. she can't decide what clothes to bring. she wants to take some nice stuff, but not too nice in case her mum complains that she spends too much on nice clothes. well, what a dilemma!

oh this is beautiful

the theme song for my eee notes

oh this is beautiful
i've got to soak it up
i've got to soak it up
oh this is beautiful
i've got to soak it up
i've got to soak it up

- beautiful (athlete)

but seriously.. my notes are not beautiful at all. still, this song is lovely.

i'm worried 'cos i'm not worried

i'm worried 'cos i'm not worried. i'm not very worried about my exams. i'm taking things really easily. one subject at a time. revising not in detail, but in bits and pieces. i hope i won't regret the past two weeks. haven't been working hard enough. time-wise i commit almost every few minutes to revising, but i can't really concentrate and keep getting distracted by things like ebay, a show called arrested development (thanks to raj!) and little things all around.

time to get serious mate! if i don't, i'll not do well!

untitled

its been about two weeks since i last blogged. been busy. greece. studying. gym. swim. stoning in pretense of studying. birthdays.

first there was alfonso's. then there's my brother's. and yesterday we celebrated kai's birthday. had good food at a malaysian restaurant. food was very malaysian-singaporean. which meant it was really good. haha. had laksa. i would rank laksa amongst my favourite food. anyway, kai has been a really great friend to many. really appreciate her 'cos she's always helping me with school work and other friends friends stuff. happy birthday kai!

to my brother too. if you're reading this, happy birthday and good luck with your uni applications and the many things you're learning and trying out!

so, time flies. it's already april. exams are here soon. dread dread dread. hope i'll be able to pull off a similar miracle to last year's exams. but i'm so distracted by seetickets.com and ticketmaster.co.uk. i keep downloading albums and buying concert tickets. two reasons. one, i love watching gigs. two, if i don't have the time to watch, i can always sell them on ebay, making a decent profit. hence, i've been buying tickets to various artistes.

looking forward to foo fighters and dave matthews (if i decide to go). sold my subways and bon jovi tickets. no time to go for them. OH! and i almost bought some madonna tickets. they're worth a lot on ebay i'm sure. BUT, i won't do that 'cos the tickets range from a HUNDRED quid to 160 quid. siao man. so expensive. i'm sure those who resell these tickets will make a huge profit. but i'm not gonna be so jian. anyway, i love london for this very reason. i get to watch all these bands that will never ever come to singapore. and they're reasonably priced as compared to singapore.

alright. it's time to study. only studied 2 out of 8 modules. i know i say this every year, but i'm so screwed. and hopefully, i'll never be truly screwed by my exams.
